Welcome to the Team.

Meet Tim Wynn-Jones, Business Development Director for Industrial & Commercial

Tim joined the SNRG team in April 2022. We found out more about the man and his mission…

Born in Bristol and raised in Somerset, Tim now lives in Stroud, Gloucestershire, with wife Blanche, and their three children, Lettie, 8, Wilf, 6, and Ida, 4. Not forgetting their two dogs! Tim loves running, so much so that he co-founded his local running club, Stroud Valleys Trail Runners.

He is fluent in Spanish, having spent a year living in Mexico, where Tim taught English at the University of Villahermosa, in the state of Tabasco.

Tim also describes himself as a “bad guitarist,” perhaps modestly, but he’s pulling the strings now in his new role at SNRG of Business Development Director for Industrial & Commercial.

Tim explains: “The job involves originating and prospecting new business opportunities to deploy microgrid solutions, managing customer relationships from point of contact through to feasibility proposals, project design, and contract, through to delivery and operation.

“I’m based remotely but my role is very collaborative and people-driven. I spend much of my time travelling to meet customers, partners and the broader SNRG team.”

Tim has a wealth of knowledge behind him, having worked in a number of product development roles across the energy industry.

His experience has ranged from onshore wind farm development, to large scale domestic energy efficiency retrofits for social housing, to business gas and electricity supply contracts, before specialising in onsite energy solutions for industrial and commercial customers.

“This broad experience across the energy value chain means I have a good understanding of customer challenges, market solutions and a big network of industry contacts,” says Tim.

His passion for renewables is evident, and Tim visions a bright future ahead.

“I believe that we have the technologies we need to provide the majority of the world’s energy without burning fossil fuels, but I also passionately believe the environmental revolution is one of the biggest economic opportunities of our time,” he says.

“Energy policy in the UK has been frustratingly inconsistent, but there are very few people who would argue that decentralised renewable energy, generated close to its point of consumption, could be anything but the right thing to do environmentally, socially and increasingly economically.

“In my role at SNRG, I have the opportunity to bring together renewable energy, clean technologies, finance and people with a determination to make that happen.”

Tim is also buoyed by Antin acquiring a majority stake in SNRG: “The Antin investment is hugely exciting for SNRG, because it not only gives us fuel to grow the company, it also gives us the credibility to get to the table and do business with customers and partners who want the security of knowing we have a secure and reputable source of backing.

“For our customers it means we have access to capital to fully fund projects without losing our nimble approach – we’re a small team with deep expertise and deep pockets.”
