Harnessing the communal power

A traditional Approach

In the UK, household electricity consumption often peaks at times that don’t coincide with sunlight hours – like turning on the kettle for your morning or evening cuppa. This misalignment means that the average UK home with 10 solar panels will use less than half of the solar power produced. The surplus? It’s exported back to the grid for far less than what it costs to buy electricity from the grid! We believe this is not only unfair but a waste of low-cost, low-carbon electricity.

The SNRG

Rooftop solar PV is connected directly to the SNRG SmartGrid, which means your home can access the power from the 289 rooftop panels plus the large communal battery storage system on the Bourne View SNRG SmartGrid. The SNRG SmartGrid ensures that you will only ever pay for the electricity your home uses, while the communal-wide network minimises the wasteful export of low-cost, low-carbon solar power back to the grid while equally maximising the benefits and savings for all homes on the SNRG SmartGrid.

  • SNRG provides low-cost, low-carbon electricity exclusively to homes connected to our private wire SmartGrid. If you’re reading this, you could be one of the lucky ones!
  • When the sun shines, much of your electricity will come from the communal rooftop solar PV array. During periods when solar or battery energy isn’t sufficient, we’ll supply low-cost, low-carbon electricity from the grid.
  • As with any electricity provider, SNRG will send you monthly bills—either by paper or digitally—that you can pay through a variety of convenient methods. You’ll also have access to an online account, the SNRG app, and our customer service team, available via phone or email.
